This OVA is sometimes described as the WORST anime EVER made...
I never thought so. Of course it was one of the first Anime I ever saw, way back in '95 or '96 and I figured it was part of a series or one of those 'movies' where they do a lot of editing to turn five 30 minute OVAs into an hour and a half long movie. I recently saw it being dissed on a
[Only Registered Users Can See Links . Click Here To Register] anime related podcast[/url] and decided to find a copy somewhere and compare the actual movie with my memories of the movie.
To be honest with the exception of a couple of WTF moments and some rather thinly drawn character types and a few horrible plot holes here and there I think it's just as good now as it was then. The only thing is, I wonder if it was intended as a parody of some of the then popular anime genres? Why don't you guys take a look and tell me?

Heh if you watch all the way through, you'll see that some guy named Hideaki Anno did some key animation for the film! Now where did I hear that name before....
